Hi, I’m Jay Whitacre. For more than 28 years, Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley have been my home — a place where I’ve lived through every season, raised a family, and built deep local knowledge of weather, access, vendors, seasonal home needs, and the rhythms of living in Crested Butte.

My background spans outdoor leadership, operations management, and higher education, including a Ph.D. focused on decision-making and risk in outdoor environments. That training shaped how I approach responsibility, preparation, and judgment — qualities that matter just as much when caring for a mountain home as they do when helping people navigate time outdoors in a complex environment.

Adventure Management grew naturally from that perspective.
