Hi, I’m Jay Whitacre. For more than 28 years, Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley have been my home — a place where I’ve lived through every season, raised a family, and built a deep understanding of how this valley works, both day to day and year to year.

My background spans outdoor leadership, operations management, and higher education, including a Ph.D. focused on decision-making and risk in outdoor environments. That training shaped how I approach responsibility, preparation, and judgment — qualities that matter just as much when caring for a mountain home as they do when helping people navigate time outdoors in a complex environment.

Adventure Management grew naturally from that perspective. Home care and adventure concierge aren’t separate ideas to me — they’re both about anticipation, timing, and removing unnecessary friction. It’s knowing when to act, when to wait, and how small details add up to a smoother experience, whether you’re arriving for a weekend or spending a season in town.

I know this valley intimately — its weather patterns, access challenges, seasonal rhythms, and the people who make it run. My role is not to sell experiences or manage volume, but to be a reliable local presence who brings clarity, consistency, and thoughtful support to homeowners who value how their time here feels.

Adventure Management is intentionally personal. It reflects how I live in Crested Butte: attentive to place, respectful of complexity, and focused on helping people feel grounded, prepared, and at ease when they’re here.
